Do I still have time to pursue a hobby?

What is your favorite hobby or pastime?

For slambooks and those friend profiles widespread during the early 2000s, I would always write as my hobbies, either playing the guitar/keyboard, surfing the internet, or reading. I have considered myself a music lover in the past, really loved the early years of the internet, and dived into the pleasures of young adult fantasy novels.

Now, around 20 years in, I have no time to pursue these hobbies. Yes, I still use the internet, but it has become a utility more than just a source of fun. I have never read a novel in years. My musical instruments now have a patina of dust.

So, what constitutes my hobbies now? The challenges of adult life and professional career are that sacrifices must be made, and hobbies are the first victims. Yet a good life balance demands a suitable pause or respite to be effective in anything.

Lately, I have been trying to explore Filipino music, which was initiated by a new appreciation of PPop or Pinoy Pop. The latter is a subgenre under OPM (Original Pilipino Music), influenced by KPop (Korean Pop) and other contemporary pop movements.

I have been trying to compensate my me-time by playing Skyrim my all time favorite roleplaying game. It’s so old but it still gives me the excitement I need when playing.

While these two hobbies made life bearable, my favorite is still writing. I am way behind my intended writing goals, but I still consider it the best and my priority after family, work, and education.

I wish I could get by this hobby and share all I can think of in my brain.
